Appliance Repair Queens – FAQs

Our service coverage Appliance, Air Conditioning and Heating service areas include Queens.

Refrigerator/ Freezer

Q: How much space should I have behind my refrigerator?
If the unit has a large black, grid-like device on the back, you should leave at least 1 inch of space between the grid and the wall, and avoid “building-in” the appliance. If there is no grid on the back, you may push the unit all the way to the wall.

Q: How often should I clean the coils under my fridge?
At least once a year.

Oven

Q: Help! My oven won’t heat to the proper temperature!
You should check the oven temperature sensor resistance. Its supposed to be at about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature. If nothing is wrong with it, then the control board has to be replaced.

Dishwasher

Q: Am I supposed to clean the inside of my dishwasher?
It depends. If you use the dishwasher at least twice a week, you don’t need to clean the inside. Otherwise, if it begins to get moldy inside–or if the residual water at the bottom of the dishwasher smells bad–put detergent in the soap dish and run the dishwasher empty, through a complete cycle.

Washer/Dryer

Q: Are front-loading washers more efficient than top loaders?
Yes. Also, the higher initial cost of a front loader can be recovered in just a few years through water, sewer, drying time, and soap-usage savings, also through reduced wear-and-tear on clothes.

Q: Why is the water in my washer’s warm cycle not very warm.
The warm water for your washer is simply a mixture of the hot and cold water available from your home. If the hot water in the machine isn’t very hot, the warm is actually cool. In some cases, the water inlet valve may be restricted, or there may be residue on the screen, that blocks the input of the hot water.

Q: How often should I clean out the lint filter?
After every time you dry a load.
